The Poetry of Yoga
Luxury Retreat to
Fire Island, NY
August 15-18, 2022
Join Yoga Teacher, Angelique Flynn, and award-winning poet, Dara-Lyn Shrager, at this one-of-a-kind Yoga and Writing Retreat in the exclusive Fire Island community of Dunewood. We will connect through yoga and writing on this 4 day, 3 night luxury workshop in Dara-Lyn's private beachfront home. This intimate experience will be limited to 4 women as overnight guests, and up to 4 Day Pass guests each day.
We will practice an invigorating Power Vinyasa flow each morning and a gentle or restorative style each evening followed by a guided meditation. Each class is designed to be accessible to all levels of experience, with many options for each posture.
We’ll begin each writing session by listening to some poetry for inspiration. After that, we’ll
use a series of writing prompts to write in our journals. Whether you write often or not at all,
you will feel comfortable with these writing exercises. They are designed to stimulate every
The barrier island of Fire Island is just a quick ferry ride across the Great South Bay from mainland Long Island. Locals and visitors travel around by foot, bike, and wagon at this ‘car free’ beach haven. The 32-mile long island is known for its pristine beaches and relaxing beachside ambiance.
Catch the mid-morning ferry on Fire Island and walk to the house. Enjoy an afternoon by the beach or sightseeing, and then meet the group at 4 PM for our first group yoga class, followed by dinner.
We'll start the day with an invigorating yoga practice, followed by breakfast.
Our first writing workshop will take place from 10 AM - 12:30 PM, followed by lunch.
Spend the afternoon writing in your journal, walking on the beach, or relaxing with a complimentary 30-min Reiki session with Angelique. Meet back at the house for a Restorative Yoga practice and dinner. We will have a guided meditation tonight on the beach, weather permitting.
Join us for morning yoga and breakfast. The rest of the morning is your own! Jog or bicycle (ask us about renting a bicycle for the retreat) to the lighthouse in Kismet or walk along the beach to Ocean Beach (also accessible by Water Taxi).
Meet back at the house for lunch at 12:30 PM.
Our second writing workshop will take place from 2-5 PM, followed by yoga and dinner.
Join us under the moon tonight for a poetry reading.
Participate in one last yoga class, followed by a walking meditation and breakfast.
